I had a great night at 4X4 Northside, the boy's that own the company were very informative & prepared to try different things on the night.
I think the guys that attended are armed with info on how to make these Isuzu's go just a bit better.
The KW's that they are getting out of turbo truck's was very impressive indeed, a 4.2 Patrol with 254Kw obviously not standard.
These are the results from the club members.
Bruce: 3.1 Auto Wizard stock 60.9KW
Pissy : 3.1 Auto Exhaust,Snorkel,no EGR's 48KW
Pig 75 : 2.8 Manual stock 51.7KW
Me : 3.1 Manual Exhaust,Snorkel,no EGR's 65.4KW
I was the last truck for the night so we could try a few things.
1st run paper filter: 63.2KW
2nd run foam Tru-Flow filter 61.8KW
3rd run K&N filter 65.4Kw
4th run K&N with snorkel disconnected 68.8KW
On the run home(just on 2hours) i disconnected the snorkel, even in the very cool of night the power was down. This showed that even though disconnected, on the dyno the number was the best with the fan blowing right in the front of the truck. At speed you cannot go past having the air rammed down the engines throat.
Also the advantage of having the snorkel when off-roading(water)I will be keeping mine.
At the end of the night we spoke to 4X4 Northside about getting more out of our Mu's, to Intercool or not.
They can install air to air or there favorite is air to water.
The power increase was great for the compact installation, it was not cheep compared to air to air. They also can supply a package for self installation with them doing final tune.
This will be the way i am going. ;D
Cheers
Dave
