Hi out there. THe 96 Bighorn Lotus has T O D but the light comes on now and then. Does not seem to be a reason but am told need a new module. Anybody come across this fault? Anybody got a module? No effects on driving at all by the way, thanks.

Torque on demand is not that common and only on later models. I had a quick look through the manual but no help. This light isnt a activity light is it? ie flashes when the tod actualy has to do something due to wheel slippage. You will only know if its not working in slippery situations when the drive will all be at the rear causeing lots of wheel spin. A cheats fix would be use 2wd most of the time and 4wd when you know you will need it This is just like older 4wds. Before buying a module try unplugging and reconecting all the connectors on the transfer case and ecu a few times to get rid of any corrosion. Disconect the battery first. It may also be one of the speed sensors

Is it TOD or the vacuum operated 4x4 system that the 96 Wizards (and MU's?) have? If it is the same as the Wizard the vac valves are mounted on the front left axle and mine had some broken wires which the auto electrician didn't find (just up from the connectors). caused the 4x4 light to come on and off intermittently.

Hi Lloyd, I have the same problem when I have the TOD engaged. I have a '97 Lotus Bighorn 4JG2T Auto but when I have the TOD engaged the light flashes for a bit then the red 'Check' light starts to flash. The manual says to stop, turn engine off then restart if still flashing then have Isuzu take a look at it. It still flashes, however when I engage it back to 2H the vehicle drives fine with no flashing warning lights anywhere. Can anyone help with this? Is it something to do with transfer/diff oil levels?

Yep according to Wizbru the problem is the same as the MU. The shift switch sensor on the front left axle that screws into the vacuum valve at one end and plugs into the wire loom at the other end. Now to source one of those!
