How about a cruise cojntrol? My wife has one on her Honda sedan. Why shouldn't I have one on my truck? No good reason not to the population replied in unison. So, I purchased a Command AP60 from Superstuff. The instructions were good up to the point when the magnets were placed around the drive shaft. My kit included a couple of magnets with magnet holders and a length of stainless wire to fix the magnets to the drive shaft.
The drive shaft stuff simply didn't work I, (after about 2 months non-pop agony) decided to

The easy way is buy a petrol as they have them std I'm guessing from your id that you go off road so I would be hesitant to tie anything the the drive shaft. Its likely to not be there when you get home. If this is the only way place them as close as you can to the gearbox. This is where the driveshaft is most protected and also less flex in the wires

Got called away & didn't finish the first post.
Anyway, did lose the sensor on the drive shaft a couple of times.
Then decided to hook into the speed sensor. After a lot of mucking around I finally got it right.
There is a circuit track on the back of the meter assembly which is labelled 'SP' (speed pulse?). I tapped into that circuit with a wire to the cruise control box.
I also had to slow the pulse by cutting a bridge wire in the cruise control box.
Now it all works without anything extra under the vehicle. Hurrah!!!

success is always a joyous occasion. Why didnt Mr Isuzu fit cruise control to the diesels in the first place?
