Not sure how to explain this but when I am at a constant speed it feels like the engine pulses with power/revs/acceleration what ever you want to call it.
It feels like its almost out of puff then it will have a power spurt then out off puff again. It does this the whole time I am at a constant speed.
I have a 91 MU 2.8td

Many things it might be but none that realy jump out. First change your fuel and air filters and see if this helps. What is it like at full throtle and any sign of overheating? Beyond that it could be a solinoid in the fuel pump or the waste gate leaking or timing or a bad pump or 2 dozen other things. good luck with a curly one

Mine started doing that after I had the fuel pump resealed.I took it back and he adjusted something on the pump but I couldn't see what he was doing. He also suggested I change the fuel filter which I did because i'd had the truck for about 10000 km and I didn't know if it had ever been changed. His adjustments seemed to fix the problem though so the new filter was more for peace of mind. Just had the alternator replaced as it died last week. Was blowing a hell of allot of black smoke after the alternator was replaced and there was basically no more power after 2000rpm.
Took the mu back and he said he mixed up a vacuum line. This resolved the lack of power after 2000rpm but still left me with black smoke when revved to 3000rpm. Think I will take it back.
How easy is it to change the fuel filter? I travel about 37000k's a year on the mu, how often should this be changed?

Fuel filter is easy to change but there is acouple of tricks. There is a conector and wire attached to the bottom of the filter. Easiest way is unbolt the bracket that holds the whole assembly then unplug these wires then change the filter on the bench remembering it has 1 liter diesel inside (messy) put everything back together then remove the line from the filter to the pump and push the round thing on top of the filter 12 times untill diesl apears in this line renconect and have a beer

Book says every 15000km. Im guilty of going twice this distance between fuel filters. For you thats every 6 months
