Does anyone know the coolant capacity for a 4jb1-t?
I havent changed the coolant before but am assuming its fairly simple....
Is it worth doing a flush of the system or is that just a bad idea like engine flushes which ive read can cause clogging of the oil lines to the turbo etc etc...
Thanks

Unless you realy think there is a blockage I wouldnt be putting a flush through the oil system. 9 times out of 10 they do a great job the 10th they wreck the engine. Cooling system is worth flushing from time to time esspecialy if the water is rusty or you have overheating issues. when filling remember to use 50/50 ratio anti freeze as this contains an anti corrosive. According to my book the system is 9.5 liters but you cant fully drain this unless you remove the engine and shake it. expect it to take between 7 and 9 liters on a drain and refill

Yeah i felt the same about the flush.
I feel it needs doing because it had been topped up many times just with water, and i dont believe there is much anti-freeze % concentration, and i wanted it there because of the anti corrosive properties you spoke of. I bought 2.5 L of concentrate and it says on teh back 33% concentration is ok or 50% for extreme conditions, i might just drain the radiator and add teh whole 2.5L and the rest water.
thanks
