well...after a week of using the oil catch, my turbo is still wet around the housing (bet. the intake and exhaust)...looks like my turbo needs servicing...i asked aroun and it would cost me around US$600 for the repair kit including installation...is this reasonable enough? its really not leaking, but rather sweaty. thanks!

Have a mechanic or even better a diesel specialist have a look befor spending any money Its quite possible that the oil is coming from somewhere else and even if its not it might not be worth fixing at this stage ie wait till it gets worse. How long have you had this wagon and did you buy a warrentee with it If so you can pass off some of the costs. If Im reading the price right then you can get new turbos for not much more

yeah that was just an over the phone inquiry...will scout around sometime this week during my day offs from work! the price is just giving me the creeps! i guess i just didn't expect that much from a turbo...might try to call the dealers for a brand new turbo unit...the rig is about 10 yrs old this month...
does turbo needs cleaning as maintenance? or just use them until they get tired for replacement

I would not worry about sweating around the turbo - alot of isuzus do this and it is often due to the breathing problem. Welcome to Isuzuland... Give it some time after fitting the catch can. My bighorn has been doing this to some degree or other for 75,000km and goes like a charm. If however it shows signs of a significant leak, then it will be cause to go get pro help. Mike

I got rid of the oil catch can for the moment until i can find a better can since the ones i fitted had small inlet and outlet which might pressurize the crank case. what i have now is a longer hose which i made to go upward (from the nipple on the valve cover, i made the hose go up a bit so as to prevent the oil from escaping with the air) and then to the intake tube. will check if there's oil in the intake after a week or 2 to see if effective.
longer hose won't have any bad effects won't it?

thanks mudgrip...now im more inclined to leave my turbo as it is for now...yeah, the sweating is not that bad at all, sometimes turbo's very hot temp. almost makes it evaporate quickly after use. whew!
