Timing Belt

Has anyone replaced their own timing belt?
If so can you please give me a little advise on doing so. T am not sure about the spring balancer, do I buy a fish weigher and attach 10 - 12 kilos to it and tensioner adjusting lever?
I have the engine manual reading pages 122 to 125.
Any help would be great. Mechanic was suppose to come around to show me how to do it but the pub probably won out instead.

I have replaced many timing belts
Just pull the scales down to 10kg and tighten the adjuster
and triple check the timing
