there is a switch on the back of the speedo that you switch to the other position which will reset it for the next 100k or you can do like me and just remove the bulb. Dont forget to replace the timing belt or bad things will happen very soon.

If my light comes on at x40,000 k's, is it logical to presume my speedo has been rewound 60,000 k's ?

Gee thanks Dave, ya bugger .... ROFL ;D I will run with 60 I think. It doesnt make the right noises for 160 but it certainly has done more hours and miles than what the clock says ...

Any other Ideas?

There are a couple of holes in the back of the cluster. I assume the holes you refer to are directly opposite each other behind the speedo? If so these both have screws in them.
There is also another hole with a thin strip of very old, discoloured masking tape over it.
What do you guys reckon?

G'day Simon,
There are two locations with the label KWS or similar. One should have a screw the other should not. Swap the screws over. This sorted mine out. Cheers,
Pete

first step second step third step the hard part of the work is to re-assembly all the parts, and put the connectors into the meter. You haven`t the sufficient room for work well.

I think it's a plastic moulded peg to lock the circuit board in place. J

Harry it isn`t a switch. As it said Justin that`s for lock the circuit board to the body`s meter.

Hi all,
just wondering, assuming that the has been NO tampering, does the T-belt light come on when you hit 100,000 on the dot or does it come on just before it?
Cheers

Yep its driven off the odometer so when it hits 100.000 it should light up, (or 72,000 in my case) J

Yeah, mine came on at exactly 100,000km. Halfway between Taupo and Napier. Dealer labour for replacement is three hours. Two to do the belt and one to make the light go away.

hi people.....
so, why am I having trouble taking out the instrument panel out?
I have removed the front surround and two screws on each side of the panel, it seems to have a couple of white supports underneath which I assume are just for poitioning but quite strong pulling will not budge the panel
I have also tried to remove the top (binnacle?) cover but it seems to ge held by some mysterious force at its back (front of the car) edge
please help me find what I am missing or tell me I can pull harder....

thanks for your reply...
I found another hint from someone and then found the two "gold" screws up just behind the steering wheel
not too hard to get out or replace, just need to expect them...
then moved the screw and the light is off!
all done
