Hey all, bout to do gear and diff oils with that nice pressure sprayer trick (so no 6 b****y hours under vehicle squeezing fluid in again). I understand gear oil is no go??? Ive got it in now but apparently you just put engine oil in??? Anyone like to clarify?

Yep are most certainly right, the gearbox and tcase both should have engine oil in them. You will notice the notchy selection as a result and veryhard on cold mornings till it warms up.
Not a big deal for the Tcase, I have had gear oil in both and dont mind having engine oil in the gearbox and gear oil in the tcase. But my oil is free and I have the luxury of changing them too often!

The synchros dont respond well to the anti friction aditives in a lot of "good oils) It doesnt damage them but can cause hard gear shifts. I just use the cheap sd grade oil in 15/40 that costs about $8 for 4 liters and now have 170000 no problems

Yep, same here. 15/40 in engine, gearbox and tsfr case. In your diffs, obviously if you have a LSD, use the appropriate oil there and you'll be set.
