There is only one spacing available in rated hooks. The big problem with the factory hook is that it only uses 10mm bolts which isnt enough. Below is a common method of fitting hooks It comes with all the usual disclaimers ie Neither me or clubisuzu are responsible for the results. 4WD recovery is one of the most dangerous things you will ever do and use of a snatch strap is the most dangerous type of recovery. If youve ever flicked anything from a rubber band you know what happens. Now think of a snath strap as a 9 meter long rubber band with 8 ton of pull and the thing you are flicking is 1 kg of steel. If you belong to a club or are joining a club talk to the safety officer of that club before fitting your hooks They might have a better way
The easiest way to fit hooks would be find a space on the chassis where you have good clearance top and bottom and away from the steering etc. Drill 2 12mm holes through both top and bottom of the chassis Then get some thick walled pipe ie 12mm id 16mm od and drill the bottom of the chassis to this size. Place the pipe in the hole so it is tight against the top hole and tack weld in place to the bottom. Then make 2 plates from 5mm steel aprox 100mm long and 50mm wide with 12 mm holes to fot the hook One goes on top the other on the bottom. Bolt the hook through the tubed hole and the plates. Easy use at your own risk and remember if your hook comes off its you doing the first aid
