Hi guys, and girls. I have now started the conversion on the MU to commodore V6. This mu is off road only so certification is not an issue. There is no reason this conversion could not be certified..
Now if only i could work out how to post pictures.... LOL

yeah, I am interested too. Have a 4jg2 that is all but in its last legs and the 3.8 v6 is the logical replacement. After muvit's info, let us know if you have any probs uploading those pics ...

Thanks for that ! Anyone need any bits??? LOL its got bent rods in 3 pots from taking a drink up the intake! (was NOT me!!) This is the isuzu transfer box on the back of the TH700R commodore box, Note it is not a MU box like i thought but its a bighorn unit from 1994 vehicle, also note the adaptor! This has to be the LOWEST MU i have ever seen!! Not for long! At this stage, standard Mu chassis, With IFS for now.. wheels are widened cruiser with 34" SAT's, Good enough to get me out there! The untouched... as i rolled it off the trailer!

Well with the weather being so bad here and the repower on my mates Bundera with a 1JZ twin turbo also in progress.. time on the MU has so far been limited...
Hopefully...... we will be back into it in the next few weekends.... If only one did not have to work during the week or if i could have 5 day weekends and two day weeks....

Gee it never rains it pours.. have had the head off my L300 4x4 twice now it is really eating up into my project build time Damn engine recon place must of just stuck the head in the dishwasher and given it back with a big bill Project has not progressed at all The adaptor is a home made unit, marks are tooooo expensive and dont do an isuzu to TH700 kit... Next weekend my mate has set a deadline to have his 1JZ twin turbo bundera running so its all hands on for that.. The following weekend, rain and snow permitting should be engine into chassis... Fingers crossed!!!!!! Final words of this post, dont even take a wheelbarrow to Taupo Auto Machinists...........

As usual there is always too many things to do and not enough time to get everything done ... I am getting pressure to get this project done from so many directions but working 70+ hours a week and the lousy weather has so far held me back from getting stuck into it! As we are now approaching the end of winter, the single digit temperature's, hail storms, strong wind and all the other crap..... I actually got to spend a few hours last weekend beginning to clear out my workshop! That project has to be done so the MU can fit in!!! So sorry its taking so long.... I will get there...!! Oh i did manage to get out wheeling the other weekend as co driver in the 1JZ twin turbo bundera and man i got to get behind the weeeeeellllllllll and into the bush!!!!

Bunderas are not common by that name in NZ Is that a sj series Zook?. If so that would be a beast when you bury the boot

Bunderas are SWB landcruisers (maybe called prado's in NZ) with coils all round standard.

Well we had a few problems with the bundera. Called a landcruiser here in short wheelbase or a prado in long wheel base format, it smoked when it got hot . We found one of the turbos was rather sick . Rather than find another set of second hand turbos my mate went to the extreme and it now had a garret T3/T4 hybrid and new manifold with external waste gate and screamer pipe.... Bloody thing is almost a drag car now! LOL Best thing is i now have the chassis in my shed ;D, and another mate is dropping his engine lifter off in the next few days ;D With luck, i just might have an engine mounted in that chassis this weekend ;D

The good, ;D Engine is sitting in the chassis, Gearbox mount is made. The bad, I unfortunatly let the diesel engine mounts go with the dead engine... i now find i need them for fitting the V6 in easily... Original mount to the chassis with a plate between the commodore mount and the isuzu looks like it will work well... ;D Gearbox mount was cut and modified, driveshafts bolt up with no modification! ;D The worst, The trans is leaking oil out between one of the transfer box sections, So i will have to mount the engine, block the trans and strip the back end to see what the guy i got the setup from has done wrong... Hopefully nothing major. .. But not having done the 700-isuzu box conversion myself ..... I dont know if its serious yet... Grrrrrr
