Engine removal

3.1L Engine

12. Torque the cylinder head bolts in sequence to 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm) then go back and turn each bolt an additional 90 degrees.

Careful! Autozone is aimed at the USA market and they never got the 4jg2. The 3.1 engine shown is a Chevy V6.
Correct procedure is as shown in the manual you have Wipe the bolts with clean engine oil Dont put any down the holes as you will crack the head. Torque to 49 ft pound starting with the center bolts first. Then turn all bolts 1/6 turn in the same order then anouther 1/6 turn

Hi Ken,

36 ft-lb (49Nm) initially with oiled bolts. then 60 degree turn, then a further 60 degree turn.
Rocker shaft 40 ft-lb.
