Just deal direct and call 4wd Systems Online - near Adelaide - get number from directory service. They manufacture the aussie Lokka brand auto-locker. Do ask them for their best club price or you'll end up paying full retail which can be $600A or so, rather than $450-525 AUS.

Anyone have any ideas how a rear AUTO locker would effect driving and handling? Will the car do strange things when cornering quickly, U-turns and how the tyres handle it Cheers Chris

I belive they are a little like lsd. beter in a longer wagon but ok apart from a little clicking as long a you dont boot it in the corner. As long as they are set up right and you use minimum power they allow the wheels to turn at different speeds better that a lsd. Remember the autto locker puts the most power to the wheel going the slowest which will be on the inside of the corner

The reason why I asked is that my front auto locker sometimes churps the front tyres when slow turning on bitumen as if they were NOT unlocking to allow the outside tyre to rotate quicker than the inside one? Incredibly heavy steering too Must be "tight",...I don't know.
cheers

You will hear it unlocking as it clicks. If it is not clicking when turning not under power then there is a problem.
I take it you were just testing it on the bitumen?

Jimmu's question is right! - it is not recommended you use front lockers on bitumen, and best to avoid using them at all except at v low speeds when on public roads. They are quite usable off road when going slowly, but do make make steering more heavy - not for on road use at speed.

Do not ever use 4wd on a hard surface. Even without a locker you can get the reults you describe and in lesser trucks you can break an axle or transfer case. Only exception to this is vehicals with full time 4wd which use a proper center diff instead of a transfer case which allows the front and back wheels to turn at different speeds. Transfer case like ours means the front and back wheels must travel at the same speed but the front wheels have to go furthur when cornering

Just wondering what isuzus this new rear diff lokka will fit. My 88 swb bighorn had a 17 spline 28.4mm front diff - can't recall how many bolts - and the Aussie lokka fitted it. This new lokka is a rear 12 bolt 26 spline. Does anyone happen to know what the rear diff setup is for our NZ/AUS bighorns - and will the new product fit these. Or is it for an american variant trooper?
Thanks, Mike.

This is for the rear diff on all isuzus from 88ish onwards ie the 2.8 bighorns all the Mus all the 3.1 and 3.0 engined 4wds. The locker you fitted to the front of your wagon also fits the front on all the above and the rear of the earlier bighorns with the 2.2 diesel or the 2.3 petrol. The 2.6 is a bit harder as it crossed over the 2 diff designs but if you have rear disscks this new rear locker is the one to get.
