Can you have your 4WD in low range with hubs "unlocked" (manual hubs) with a Lokka front diff? So if your going down a decline and wont full steerage so as u only have the back wheels driving. Hope this makes sence! Cheers Bruce.

Once you've unlocked the hubs you've disengaged drive from the front shafts to the wheels so only the shafts and diff will turn. So I don't see why not, and it should do no harm for short time periods. J

In terms of doing damage no problem. Its quite often usefull to use low range when manovering in tight spaces etc. If you useing low range though due to the steepness of the terrain though this could be a recipie for disaster as you only have the rear wheels controling your speed. if they slip your options become very limited. A loka should allow steering so for safty I would leave it in proper 4wd

I have done a fair bit of offroading with my Lokka in. Too be honest apart from doing 5 point turns on tight tracks to turn around I have not had an issue with them not turning properly.
If I am on the juice they are a little tight to turn but off it they are fine. I would think on the decline using engine braking that they would not be under pressure and would unlock without too much of a problem. I will test it next time I am out.
I think I would prefer to have the front end engaged on a decline than not engaged.
