On my list the only lsd is G80 and the list covers engines up to 4jx1 so I think its complete. They may over been fitted x factory so wont show on the plate. Theres no ref to G60 www.itog.com/xr-001.shtml

Oh well it was a thought... I'd like to see what a Rodeo has on it as these are standard with LSD in the TF range.
That Itog list does not match any of the codes on my MU!!

Will a TF rodeo LSD fit a MU (94) rear diff I have a rodeo centre in mine, it was from a V6 one, so they have the right ratio, and I would gather that the diesel one are the same too.

Guys, the specialist told me i dont have an LSD but i'm notconvinced, the traction is has shown, it is either fitted with a LSD orit was devine intervention! so i'm going to try the redline gear oil stuff, i assume it wont hurt if i do have an open diff fitted?? i tried the jack both wheels up, and rotate one, with the car in park(its auto) the other wheel rotated backwards. with the prop unlocked, one wheel wouldnt spin, and the prop was turning. i have concerns that the rear axle hasnt has lsd oil in it for quite some time now though. so hope this oil will help restore it adrian

Adrian if you dont have the G80 on the options plate and when you jack it up and leave in neutral and spin one wheel the other should spin in the same direction, so if you dont have this you dont have a LSD sorry. Cheers Bruce

Hi, Just tried the lift and spin and both wheels go the same direction(cool) but no g80 code on plate .Mine is a 1991 mu.Does climb well but front end is useless on rutted climbs.Allways lifts a wheel so have to drive hard to keep momentum up.Just fitting another inner cv so have desided to weld up front diff as most my 4x4 trips are hard and have rutted tracks to follow. Will let you guys know if it was a mistake . Cheers

you can get a locka brand auto locker for the front which would be better than welding but I think current price is around 700. I always belived welded diffs were bad for steering etc but its seems to be fairly common in USA on rock climbers. Ive seen one or too of your local tracks and I wouldnt be compromising steering

Wonder if there might be steering/WOF from welding together gears in front diff - certainly wouldn't handle well on road - normally something only dirt racers do- and they aren't used on road. Lokka for front from 4WD sytems in Adelaide is about $485 Aus (club price) delivered to NZ, - about $570?NZ at present - kiwi dollar has dropped a bit. This would be a hell of a lot safer and roadworthy - if your 4x4 is also your road vehicle. Mike

With the front hubs unlocked a welded front diff would have no effect so shouldnt get picked up at wof time. Still not a good idea though as one day youll want to use 4wd on a skifield road or similar.

For a WOF a welded diff makes no diff (get it!)if you are in two wheel drive with hubs unlocked. The big draw back is off road in 4x4 you cant do tight turns or U turns. You need to keep the back end to the outside of the turn and do a 3 point turn or more as reqired.Tracks I drive (tyrees, maratoto)have such deep groves the truck cant steer out of them anyway. My MU has 33"tyres ,2" suspension lift,2" body lift,10,000 lb winch, snorkel and more dents than a golf ball.My friends have hilux and patrol with same specs but lockers and they can crawl up climbs that i have to hit with speed(hence all the dents).
