Muvits you've done a top job on that little red Mu, love it. I think you should contact one of the mags & get your self some exposure(i think much needed) & give some of the over exposed custom Tojo's & Nissan's a run for their money. Had a look at the trip shots, even looks better in the dirt. Cheers Davo

Ray bought the MU around here to BBM this week to show us what he did with the multitude of parts he got from us over the last year or so. So we wacked it on the ramp and worked out his RTI (Ramp Travel Index). For those of you are not familiar with RTI, it is a measure of wheel travel in relation to your wheelbase. A score of 1000 is the equivelent of driving as far up the ramp as your wheelbase while having the remaining 3 wheels on the deck. Anything over 500 is considered OK. Over 750 and you have done a bit of work. To reach 1000 is uncommon. 1100 is extraordinary! 1200 is outrageous! 1300 is almost unheard of.
Why dont you tell em what you managed Ray?

Hi all well i was stoked to see my mu travel skyward & after all the advise & the expertise of rick & liam of BBM motorsports i finally ramped it & managed to pull off a 1368 ;D It would be interesting to see what the other fellas achieved with there leaf sprung SAS projects got as opposed to my coil conversion?. Maybe when rick has some time he may be able to slip a photo of it up as i only have one on my phone 4 all to see?. Anyway i've organized for a engineer to come tomorrow to start the process of hope & from our lengthy discussion today he will not engineer it with my 36 iroks for on road use but he said if i was travelling with them to go 4wding then its ok. On the other hand a max of 33x12.5 is what he will engineer it on road due to its massive overall lift.... oh well just means i'm up for spending more money that i dont have on another set of rims & tyres so if anyone knows anyone within 200ks of my suburb with 16x10 sunnies (any cond) & A/T tyres 7mm of tread & above to suit I will pay cash asap as the sunnies will be used with my iroks offroad & the A/Ts will go on my 16x10 eagle alloys for on road prefer 33s in diameter as they will already look like cheese cutters.....LOQ cheers muvit

rti 1368 and hopefully road legal! thats virtually the same as a road legal drag car that does 5 second quarters at 200mph. fantastic stuff. The NZ 4wd mag did a report on a rally truck a few years back that had a center pivot in the chassis. From memory it only managed 1200.

Just bear in mind that this is a 25 degree ramp, not the 30 degree job the Tuff Truck guys use. On a 30 deg ramp it would be less, Im just not sure how much by. That aside, it is still an awesome thing, the amount of travel in the front is just tops! Would take some pretty wild obstacles to stop the "not so little" MU now!

Hi How longs a piece of string?, Hard to answer that one reason being is because i didn't take the mu off the road until i had both diffs fully rebuilt & had as much parts & accessories to start the project & finish it quickly in around 3 months or so? But i didn't document any time down. cheers muvit

Hi here's a few pics of some teething problems that i've since modified ( yes i know there muddy shots ) : Re-modified bend in the A-link A metal cone in replace of the stock rubber stop to allow 3" more drop out on the coil so it doesn't pop out anymore: these two mods alone has helped my RTI (ramp travel index) go from 1368 to 1452 Here's a few pics from appin cheers muvit

Hi fellas here's my re-modified lower radius arms after banana-ing the patrol arm. I'd be very surprised if these do the same. Here's my gq ones: Here's my updated version made from 4140 chromoly with left & right thread either end to take glen dobbins fully sealead custom made rose joints. Also the shock & swaybar mounts are welded on to them as this will be the set up for both on road & offroad. (No more switching between the banjo to the radius arm anymore). Yep you guessed it they're powdercoated & assembled with glens rose joints: Here's the fabricated body mounts before i welded em on: Mounted & Assembled with shockies: cheers muvit

Why?
I've been told GQ diffs only came out as 3.9 and 4.1 but you can buy aftermarket 4.6s. I have a little scheme in mind for next year and am just gathering info.
