Has anyone any idea how to get a neutral position in the transfer case so that the car can be flat towed? Any help would be appreciated.

There is no neutral in the transfer case unless it is broken. If its a manual then just put the gearbox in neutral. if auto you can tow about 30km without problems but otherwise you have to remove the driveshaft
