I have inquired at owens supension about a 2" suspension lift on my 93 mu and the cheap way to do it is for them to reset the leaf spring by means of heating them and bending it until they get the required .New shocks will be replaced as well.arc.Is there any downside to this?

If you dont mind redoing them every 6 months then no. Japenese steel does not take resetting very well. It can be done by some people sometimes but even the best get more failures than success. New springs or a shackle lift are the only ways to go. My money is on springs but dont buy the heavy duty type

You can get a new set of of maxi trac springs with a 2" lift for $500-600 from repco/appco, I got 5 leaf heavy duty, the leafs are almost half the thickness of standard isuzu ones and they work very well. As geeves said, not very often re-setting them works, for the inital cost of new springs compaired to the cost of resetting yours a couple of times, it pays to get new ones.

If you are after new, the Ironman springs off this link are good value www.4wd1.com/holden_rodeo_early.htmI have a set on the back of my Rodeo - and am pretty happy with them. They give 40mm lift, and remember that is 40mm from standard, not from whatever your old ones have sagged to.

I faced this question recently - had just done a 2" body lift and wanted more height. Problem is retensioned springs don't hold there new height long, and new stiffer, higher arc springs sacrifice articulation - critical in the rear of an isuzu.
I went for an extended shackle lift again - about 80-90mm and have gained 50mm+ in height after it settled down a bit. Total cost $12 for steel and about $40 or so for new bolts.
Very cost effective and also improves rear articulation at same time. Gives isuzu quite a healthy ramp index.
