Matt. Yeah I will have to get one of those drop hitches me thinks... It's a good fit between the body and chassis after a 3" body lift. I just cut down a GQ patrol towbar and then fitted it (adjusted brackets), it's now rated at 2800kg so should be able to pull somthing without worring about it falling off. ;D ;D

Yeah I have no idea of a name for the MU though it has be called a few like "tow truck" (as I was always towing my mate in his Patrol) and "Musuzu" (from someone that couldn't remember its name). I still like to call it the little blue MU........... it may get a 1UZ-FE yet so yes lots of foreign parts, but at least it's my other favourite brand.... And yes all I can say is it looks dam good and feels ok to drive. thanks guys

Hi Jan, just a quick question. Your swap was great, and it inspired me to do mine... but I have a stumbling point and was wondering what you did re: the front driveshaft and the fact the gearbox crossmember seems to get well in the way?
I've made a new crossmember which hopefully will give me the clearance I need to get the right angle, and I have a spare front d/s from a hilux to use the double cardan from... and I'm thinking of using a trusty old square tube front driveshaft for maximum slip.
Just be keen to know what you did in the end?
regards
Steve

Well I haven't done the drive shaft yet.... money is a bit of a problem at the moment so I haven't been able to keep going.
But what you said would work very well I would imagine, another idea that I had was to run a long spacer off the transfer which would have the Hilux double cardinal bolt pattern on the end. this way you wouldn't have to worry about the tailshaft angle.
Hope this helps
Cheers
