Hi, The starter on my 2.8 Jackaroo began clicking some weeks ago but with repeated tries would finaly start. It inevitably failed completely last week and I was forced to look into it. Removed the starter and the solonoid end plate and, sure enough the plunger and contacts were real bad. The local dealer listed the parts but they showed up no longer available. I took the plunger and contacts to a local auto electrician and he had all the parts in stock. $66 and another hours work and it all goes like new. I judged that the bearings and brushes had plenty of life left so these were retained. The electrician commented that the starter is a very robust design that gives little trouble in the field. Just posted this in the hope it will save somebody money in the future. Al
