I have just gone an bought my self a 2.6L petrol mu...Now my previous cars have all had more modern and smaller engines in them, so I don't know if my petrol consumption in the Mu is normal for a bigger car.
I so far have used about 3/8 of a tank and have only done 180km...so about 23L for 180kms...now is that a bit high? This is normal driving, not thrashing it etc...
Oh and does anyone have any hints for fixing the handbrake?

Search the repairs section of this forum for handbrake issues Also on the main club page there is a good artical on the handbrake on these. The handbrake can be a pain to get right but its mostly simple things and common sence like making sure the cables are not siezed and the caliper moves freely on its mount. Petrol usage is too hard to tell The gauge on these is not linear esspecialy in the top half of the tank so you will need to fill the tank run a distance and fill the tank again. The Mu is very heavy for its size so will be greedy round town but will improve lots on the open road.If the figures above turn out to be aquate this is around 22 miles per gallon which would be ok. We dont have many petrol Mus here to compare to but maybe a petrol trooper owner could give a comparison

hey guys are they fuel injected and are you running on 96 or 91?? i get roughly 100km per 10l,thats an mu 2.6 in a 88 trooper with 31x10.5x15 tyres on it with carberation, an need more details on handbrake oh but do check the plastic grommets are not worn as in grooved, there's three on each side at they adjusting end half of cable, follow both sides back and you should find them easy enough.

all you can do is run it down to empty and see how the guage reacts as the are prone to dropping down then running on low for a long time
