Hey guys just wondering if anyone can tell me if there should be a sump gasket on a 1993 isuzu mu 4jg2 engine. The part i am talking about is the bit that covers the oil pump and pickup not the actual aluminuim part its a steel cover that sits on the bottom. has the 10mm bolts holding it on not the 12mm ones I've pulled it off to fix a leak and found someone had rtv all around it aswell as a gasket. In the steel tray it has grooves around it looks like where 3 bond sealant should be applied but im not sure
any help would be great

Hope this helps Crankcase · Completely remove all sesidual sealant, lubricant and moisture from the sealing surface of crankcase and cylinder block. · Apply a correct width bead of sealant (TB-1207C or its equivalent) to contact surface of crankcase there must be no gaps in the bead. · Install crankcase with cylinder-block, and tighten fixing bolts to the specified torque.

The 4JB1 has a gasket, There are 2 different shaped gaskets depending on what vehicle it is so i would say the 4JG2 has one as well. no gasket between the alloy sump and the block

As long as the gasket isn't broken it'll seal ok with a good quality sealant. Harry.
