sounds electrical. Check all the wiring on the front of the engine for a loose or transposed wire. Overdrive cant be engaged till the engine reaches a certain temp. Did it go into overdrive at all on the way home. You might need to look at anouther Mu to compare wiring colours. Car yards are often a good sourse of a good free look under the bonnet. Ifd it didnt then its definatly caused by them even if they didnt touch the auto directly. In my mind these sorts of things come underr the title of "things happen" and the garage should fix or prove it wasnt them. My Toyota developed a leak in the gearbox after a clutch job. Garage fixed leak free of charge but were very quick to point out how good they were for fixing it when it wasnt there fault which is sort of true.

take a look at the transmission and find where the speedo cable plugs into and tweak the nut up on it, i had the same problem after putting my mu onto its side, all that had happened is the speedo cable must have been lose allready, and the rollover, or more likely pulling the truck back onto its wheels made it fall out all together.

I had the exact same problem, except I was the one that did the job. When I removed the speedo to reset to timing belt light, I removed the wrong screw to reset the light. The light did go out, but it turns out it was the earth for the speed sensor , so it would never go to O/D. The workshop may have done a good job on the belt, but if they were reading the same manual as I did, then it could pay to check it.
