I am in big trouble with my 94 Bighorn. I suddenly started burning a lot of oil. Thought it was my new turbo had a seal failed so put the old turbo back on. No better, in fact getting a LOT worse. Then suddenly got a lot better So I feel that eliminates rings. I now suspect injectors. I remember reading the has been a recall on seals. Also a lot of black smoke on startup. What is your feelings on the injectors causing this. Do these seals nead a mechanic or are they a home mechanic job? Thanks Ken

wrong engine for injectors to cause oil loss. I hope it didnt get better because it ran out. usual culprits are rings or valve stem seals. A compression test should show which one

It looks like a ring problem. I was put off by the amount of smoke at start-up. The oil spray must have been pooling in the inlet waiting for startup. It also had the effect of producing copious amounts of black smoke until it settled down. This would be because it was using the oil as fuel and was running too rich. Now I have to sell this one and think of a replacement. I dont have the facilities to do a repair job as big as this. Thanks for the help Geeves Ken

if its oil acumalating in the intake try a catch can. There about $50 at super cheap or you make your own for not much more than the cost of 2 meters rubber hose
