Guys
I have recently seen (in a motor-home magazine) a 4.8L turbo diesel Isuzu motor home.
After looking on at Isuzu commercial vehicles on the internet.
I see it is based on one of their N-series commercial trucks. They also do a 5.2L turbo diesel engine as well!(www.isuzucv.com)
Has anyone ever seen one of these turbo diesel engines fitted in a Trooper/Bighorn??
(They also had on there a 6.0L Vortec V8 300hp/358lb-ft petrol lump as well)

sounds nice but I doubt they would phisically fit Also the truck engines are very heavy so start looking at big suspension upgrades

Out of interest I was looking at a US 80 Series Landcruiser site the other day (for info on my winch) and they had a section of suggested replacement engines. One of their top recommendations was the Isuzu 4.8/5.2L out of a N series. Maybe some others are seeing the light!

80 cruzers have a huge straight 6 diesel engine and the pre 95 models eat bearings every100k If you dont change every 100k throw motor away Post 95 all good but this might be why they look for other engines. Here most get chevy v8s Im suprised the americans are useing diesel

This is getting off topic, but my mate has an 80 series that has been repowered with a 307 chev. Sounds nice but the Wizard can still out accelerate it. It basically doesn't generate enough torque. He's going to drop a 400 chev in it.

307? Wasnt this a race motor and quite rare.I had a mate a while ago that was racing a Nissan 360z fitted with a 302 chevy which is even rarer. 305 chevys are very common and in standard form make less hp than a corola due to smog gear They drink petrol though like 3 corolas

Are the bigger engines not 4 cylinder like the 3.1? i know in usa they fit the small block chevy engines. I can see how 6 cylinder engines would be too long to fit.
i can imagine how the weight would be a problem, but my trooper doesnt handle like a sports car with the engine it has now!!
i think the americans are finally realising what a good powerplant diesels are, and how when you tune them they can be quite fast.
that and the fact their cheap gas has hit US$2gallon!!
they will cry if it gets as expensive as it is here in UK!!
