Hello
Can anyone list the pros and cons of installing a turbo boost controller onto my 2.8 Mu, 4jb1t? It's running at about 12psi at the moment.
It seems to be the cheapest way to increase power when i need it, such as beach driving. But i'm not sure if it's going to increase engine wear n tear, or premature turbo wear.
And are there any other mods that need doing if i install one?
Cheers
Daniel

Hi Daniel, Dont expect raising the boost alone to make much extra power. Until you up the fuel to match the gains will be small. 12Psi is higher than most already. Increasing boost will increase engine wear, turbo wear and increases EGTs. But more power does = more fun ! I would not run higher than that without an intercooler and a free flow exhaust. Mudgrip got some good gains without an intercooler see clubisuzu.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=Enginemods&action=display&thread=1090976437Jimmy

People already mention that working in sand is a lot of hot work for a 4x4, so producing more power may just lead to faster over heating. Something to keep in mind at any rate. Cheers, G.

Yeh i might just save for the intercooler, that should do me for a while. I've just booked it in to get a dump pipe installed so i should get a bit of extra kick from that too.
Thanks for the input guys
