egr valves

Has any one else herd of removing the egr valves then placing a replica plate of the base of the egr valves and placing it on there bolting it on and blocking this off, also pluging the vacume lines that lead to the egr valves, apprently this helps to prolong the life of the engine...?? mith or fact? ive got a friend who's 2.7 has this done he also removed the quik warm buterfly in the exhuast.

Any opinons or facts on this matter?
