recently bought a 2.8 turbo intercooled 1989 ubs 55 bighorn with 143,000kms as a running project , it has an oil pressure guage as one of the three guages in the centre of the dash, now the gauge always reads very low, doesnt even get to the numbers but the engine pulls well and other than smoking after 3000 rpm seems fine??? just wondering if the guages are notoriously dodgy or i have a problem looming??? if it wasnt for the worrying guage and smoke i wouldnt give it a second thought.

Can't say mine has given me any trouble during the 2 odd years I have had it Mine is the same model and runs between 2 and 4 depending on revs.
My Temp gauge does a similar thing to yours though, hardly seems to register.
Been too busy with other mods on it to check it out, but it doesn't seem to be running too hot.
I might get a new sender for it this weekend and see if it fixes it, could be a gauge problem as well?

Both of mine run about 4 when cold dropping to between 1 and 2 when hot, more towards 1 as the oil gets nearer 5000 ks old. Harry.

Harry. i have just noticed from a sticker in the window that my oil is nearly 8000 ks old, i suspect that could be an issue to deal with first, have only had the truck 5 days and its on the priority to do list...... tomorrow i think

Mine sits up around 8-9 when cold (even at idle), and 4 when warm and cruising.
At WOT it will climb up to 6-8 again (depending how warm the oil is).
Sits around 2 at idle after it has warmed up.
Blows absolutely no smoke at all, so I am assuming my motor is in pretty good condition internally.

did an oil and filter change today and it improved now when hot it runs at around one, not impressive but if the guage wasnt there i wouldnt give it a second thought as it still pulls better than my old 3.1.
