Am going to buy an intercooler off of a 3.1 bighorn to fit my 2.8 rodeo. I have a RHF5 turbo on my rodeo and have been told that you cant rotate it to make the 3.1 intercooler fit . Just wondering if someone has made one fit and could fill me in on the process ie. what extra pipes needed etc. And any pics would be great. thanks Dan

Not sure on the turbo nos but if this is the original 2.8 turbo it can be rotated without too much drama. If the turbo is from a 3.1 then it has ceramic bearings that explode if you try to rotate the intakes outlet. The bighorn turbo has a differant no to reflect the outlet angle. It will be more work making mounts etc but look at useing a front mount intercooler or maybe a Pajero intercooler which has the pipes much closer together or a nice compact Subaru water to air intercooler

An isuzu parts dealer told me there are 2 models of turbo's on the 2.8 and mine (rhf5) is not compatible with the 3.1 intercooler. Maybe because its a later model '99.

I would be talking to your local diesel and or turbo shop for some advice I did some hunting on the net and it seems there are several incarnations of that turbo from our mighty 4wds through Subaru WRXs down to lowly Mazda MX5s (sorry 2 door sports car fans) Some might be adaptable some not and there might be anouther option thats easier and just as cheap for the intercooler. This is beyond the league of this type of forum though. Good luck and let us know how you get on

This is a 3.1 intercooler fitted to a Rodeo with a turbo that cannot be rotated... Just a few mods to the end tank and you're away! -Stuart
