Peter - have a look at the topic 'frontal lift' in this same category. We talk about the ball joint flip there. Did this to mine and works fine after alignment. Gains about 10mm I guess, mostly helps balance space between upper and lower bumpstops. There is another discussion on frontal lift/ball joint flips somewhere else in the forum also - Mike A.

Finally got around to doing this today, took about an hour and a half for both sides. Had a quick squiz at Pete's link which was very infomative, and the only thing extra I did was mark off the castle nuts with white out to make sure they go back to the same position. Will get my alignment re-done tomorrow as its due its 10K Coopers special. I didn't chop the bump stops yet as I think they prevent my front tires from rubbing, it was more for increasing the drop range and better alignment. J

unless you drive a Hilux, a ball joint flip won't give you any lift... it does however give you more down travel. on vehicles with the torsion bar on the upper control arm (Hilux) it will give you lift. I flipped mine and put 12 mm spacers in them and cut my upper bump stops in half..... made no difference until i re-indexed the torsion bars.... gives me a heap more flex in the front. Before the flip..... After the flip i took this today..... not bad flex for IFS ;D. Wouldn't have got it stock.
