Hey guys, I'm putting a 4jb1-t into an 82 Pup, and was wondering if anyone could give me a quick overview of the breather system on these engines. All I have found is one hose that goes from the valve cover to the intercooler. Is that all there is?
I thought there would be something from the crankcase also, like the C223 I'm replacing, but I can't find anything.
Is there a better way to vent the crankcase, rather than pipe it back into the engine? Seems that would make for some excessive smoke?
Thanks

Thats the wrong pipe but very close. The pipe from the valve cover should go to a valve on the inlet manifold then to a t conection to the main inlet pipe between the turbo and air cleaner although on some engines there are 2 pipes on the inlet one going to the valve on the manifold the other to the valve cover. The valve on the inlet manifold is essentialy a blow off valve set to 16psi. The cranckcase fumes are just recycled into the inlet before the turbo. On most engines this works fine as is but some Isuzu motors fume quite a bit and this will then carry oil into the inlet causeing smoke. Best answer if you have a fumey engine is to fit an oil catch can in this line. There is plenty of info on the net on catch cans from expensive shiney things down to basic modified bake bean tins Chose the style that fits best in the space available etc.

Ok thanks geeves. I had taken the intercooler and turbo to air cleaner pipe off and forgot about that one. That makes sense now, I thought there is no way that could hook up to the intercooler.....that just doesn't make sense haha.
By the way- I'm getting very close with this conversion, it should be running and maybe even driving this weekend.
