Good day to all you aussies (and all the others too ) I have a 94 Petrol pickup (4dz1 engine) which is a bit "sluggish".... (can't blame it thought, it's with 330000 Km and it wasn't really that powerfull when it was brand new). I am thinking about changing it to a V6 taken from a trooper (petrol too) which is supposed to be much stronger... and now - for the questions: 1. Is it possible? 2. Any engine models are preferred for this operation? 3. Other then the engine itself - which other systems do I have to replace? Clutch? Drivetrain? Electrical systems? 4. I'm also considering adding to it an automatic rear differential lock - should I worry because of the engine power? or can I live with it? I know it's a mess of an operation and if I'll decide to go through it then I will probably never sell the car... Thanks, Shahar.

You will need the computer and harness from the trooper and it will be easier to use the trans that comes with the v6 Then you only have drive shaft mods to do and engine/gearbox mounts. Diff lock will be ok but where will you get an automatic locker for the rear.

Well, Just wondering... do you have any references to pictures etc. of an already planted V6 in this engine bay?
I was thinking of using a PowerTrax NoSlip locker which if I recall has a model for my tfs.

dont know anyone who has done this swap Your probably on your own on this one. Have a look at a few American sites They got the v6 earlier than use and do have some of your wagon with the v6 from new. Be carefull with the power trax I belive they quote the Isuzu as haveing the Dana44 diff which is American spec only. You need one for the 12 bolt corperate Isuzu diff

Ok, I've done some checking and it is a complex swap... besides it'll probably be very illegal over here since it seems isuzu has never manufactured a V6 pickup and I live in a dumb country...
I am not rulling out this swap yet but I'm also trying to think about other directions such as overhauling my engine and on the way adding some performance to it... if it's possible I'm open to ideas in this direction too... :-)
so... any fresh ideas are welcome

I live in Israel. Don't even start asking about the legistlation here, let's just say that if I want to change my car's color, or change something in it's mechanical parts or it's wheels or anything I'm becoming an outlaw and legally authorizing such changes is almost impossible. (I owned a SuperMotard which was actually illegal due to tire changes even though it was a much better and safer bike after I've changed it).
Anyway, I decided to drop the V6 idea. My current thoughts are as follows: 1. going through a complete overhaul - just to get the engine fresh. 2. changing the carb to a TBI (just started the research but it seems like a doable task and quite a productive one).
as usual I'll be very happy to get more ideas, especially about the TBI and also about ignition control (which I hope to get working with the injection computer)
Thanks.
