Hey does any one know how much it would cost to convert my 3.2 V6 to LPG in $NZ! The price of petrol is killing me!! And here on the West Coast LPG is $0.80 cheaper than petrol (LPG is $1/ltr while petrol $1.80!)

Remember it only goes 2/3 as far Expect to pay 3000 - 4000 for a conversion but at those prices payback shouldnt be too long

Other logical option is swap the V6 for an isuzu diesel model. If you can find a good 2.8TD, they will typically run 30-32mpg, at diesel rates. This is much cheaper than an LPG conversion unit.

trade in on a similar bighorn at the dealers with diesel engine would be the cheapest way to go but you do need to factor in the extra maintenance costs of the diesel. Lpg is as clean as petrol so you maint cost wont change. diesel costs are slightly more than double. If you do your own oil changes etc this wont be an issue but if your paying a garage it will quickly add up and must be considered. $1.80 would have me considering a bicycle

Guys sit comfortably, i've seen diesel her in uk for 107.9p/L (NZ$2.93/L or AU$2.46/L) and there is more tax to go on it next year!! hence why i'm thinking of getting trooper converted to run on vegtable (rape seed) oil but even that is getting to be silly money now. dont want to sell my baby and buy 1.3L turbo diesel small euro box! adrian

In the UK you tax is added to the fuel in the same way as Aus. In NZ the tax is paid on a milage basis which goes on weight not fuel ecconomy. Typical Bighorn usage gives a tax rate of about 20c per liter. Even so our total fuel/tax bill is still 50% of the UK prices and still we complain
