Good day to all you Isuzu lovers I'm sorry to say but my 2.3 petrol TFS was traumatized by having a "small" *ahm* dip into water (which was a bit salty) yes yes, it was my fault completely. Anyway, I've got it back up and running but I still can't make it idle correctly and hence my Fuel consumptuion has risen to crazy levels (and fuel prices as you all know only go up). It simply won't come down - even if I tune the carb to have te mixture almost totally lean the computer still pushes it somehow to 1500 RPM. Now it happens only after I drive, I did manage to set it up normally when I'm standing in the garage. Could it be a sensor that went bezerk? (oxygen sensor on a carb model?) I also have stumbeling when I accelerate at certein RPM's? Ignition timing? any other ideas? Have a great day and try not to drown your car, it's not a good idea, believe me Thanks. Shahar, Israel

check the throttle cable isnt sticking. If its a carby model not fuel injection then the computer doesnt have that much control

Does it have air conditioning? Usually there is a throttle adjust for when the air con is on, an electrially operated solenoid, or is it vacume? it may be sticking or faulty...

Well, The model is carburated. I've changed the O2 sensor (it did need the change) but still running too high. I also checked the choke but it seems to be just fine. it's preety wierd this whole thing, running high and drinking fuel like a fasted vampire ;D What's that "fast idle speed" thingy? could it be the fault? Could a vaccum leak cause it? (tomorrow morning I'm replacing all the vaccum hoses with new ones) Thanks. Shahar.

Thinking about this. You reausted the mixture If theres a vacume leak the adjustment will of compensated for this so now you have too much air via the leak and enough fuel so yes high idle. Also check for a leaky gasket. How severly did you drown it. If you got water in the cylinders then it may of hydroliced. Do a compresion test The results will be obvious.
