anyone got a description or pic of where that overboost valve is. Is it on the plenum?

damm its to small, it says: its just behind the intake, if i remember its a small alloy cylinder that sticks out, i just put a alloy plate over it.

does it unscrew or something? or do i have to weld a cover on it? Just out of interest quack how much boost do you run? Im going to remove the overboost valve first before i down rate my wastegate spring. Do you know what boost value the valve opens at.
Im thinking that if my wategate is rated at 14.5psi but the valve is less that that then the valve is going to open before the gate does anyway and thats why its not working as it should.

it bolts on this 2 bolts on each side, i think i remember reading somewere that it opens at 16psi. i took it out as i didnt want anyting releasing out of there.
ive just got a dodgey bleed tap on mine so it runs between 12-14 but stays at 14 most the time. wouldnt mind going up to 15-16psi, but i think im pushing it now with the standard exhaust.
do u have a boost gauge yet? i would put one of these on before you go changing springs.
so you think ull be able to plumb it back into the exhaust were its mounted? have you gone for a wof with it yet?
being a 4x4 u could probaly just get it covered in mud and they probly wouldnt know it was there.
if you email me the pics i can put them up for u:)

well i ran it all the way from auckland, over the coromandle ranges and to matarangi beach in the weekend, highest boost reading was 17psi, that was up hill and acelerating. Its pretty quick from about 70kmh to 125kmh and feels like the engine would have alot more but they wernt exactly made for speed so i didnt push any futher. Its got no boost control at all because the gate still stays shut, and i have removed the over boost valve, it seemed fine, didnt over heat, oil pressure was good.

Is that in the exhaust manifold ?? Surly you would put it in the intake somewhere?

Wastegate's job is to monitor intake pressure and then adjust this by allowing exhaust gas to bypass the turbo. You will see a flange on the side of the wastegate between the adapter pipe and the diapham unit that should reconnect to the exhaust below the turbo. Blow off valves control pressure by venting intake air which can be vented back into the intake which is how most factory setups are done or vented to air to get that nice shshstssh sound that boy racers love

exactly so i pretty much have it in the right place. A better position would have been on the part of the manifold that the turbo sits on but theres just no room, it seem ok at the moment not haveing any boost control, my boost control is my right foot, works for me
