I have a 1992 2.8 DT Isuzu Mu, it blows out white/blue smoke on idle, it seems to blow out the usual amount of smoke under throttle but when I go back to idle the white/blue smoke is still there, always even when hot, what could this be ?

on a 2.8 some smoke is normal at idle but shouldnt be very much. Could be oil or water causing it if excessive. Whats oil or water consumption like. Water should be none and oil almost none.

how do you test for that geeves mine smokes after a long run before i started using boi and after as well what do you think.  |

Worn valve guides? Mine does it a little. Mudgrip4 here, AKA Mike, has had his replaced for under $200... It's on my list of things to get around too

If you can see the smoke its a little. If you cant see you car its a lot. Mine stops smokeing when fully hot ie top of long hill but if left idleing will start smoking after 5 or 10 min as it cools.
If its running well not useing lots of oil or water and the cops arnt looking at you funny its ok

Cheers Geeves I gees it is not to bad but it is bad after long run it tarns to smoky jo for a good while.
I am thinking it might be valve Gide's too. see how it is after the road trip.

If its worse after a run it could be sucking oil though the breather.
have a look for the posts on catch cans that will reduce this
