My 89 Bighorn, 4JB1T, seems to have stopped adjusting the idle when the aircon is switched on.
Anyone able to help with where I should be looking for the switches etc, to check it's not just a loose connection to start with?
Cheers

There is a solinoid with a wire and vacume line on the side of the diesel pump that operates when the air con is switched on increasing the idle slightly but there is something else as well that I also have a problem with as mine will sometimes sit at 2000 revs with the air con on

Cheers Geeves, helpful as usual, I will have a look at that over the weekend, and see if anything appears out of place.
Mine is just running low on idle when the aircon is on, so hopefully it will be a simple fix.
Cheers

Hi guys,
Do any of you know where I can get one of these Aircon idle-up solenoids for my 1998 Holden Rodeo TD? Looks like Holden left this one out of their plans when they imported them?!?!
As result, I have a bad idle with the air ON, or alternatively I have to turn up the idle screw position on the pump and then it idles way too fast with the air OFF!!! (BTW, my engine also idles rough on cold mornings whith the air OFF until it warms up)
Thanks in advance!

what engine is in the rodeo? If its an efi engine then its all taken care of by the computer. My other car has a similar problem that fits into the too hard basket. It has a temp controled air con a bit like a crude climate air. When its very hot the aircon cools the car and the fan runs at full noise. as the aircon switches the compressor on the idle rises to 1200 or so as normal but when it switches off the idle drops to about 400 and rough. switching the fan off restores the idle.

Hi Geeves. Sorry for the delayed reply.... It is the 2.8 diesel 4jb1T motor (Mechanical injection pump). I have tried Ebay and only received 3 solenoids so far....all of which aren't strong enough to push (or pull) the throttle body spring to increase idle when the aircon cuts in. (Obviously this problem only happens on idle in traffic etc, not on the highway).
Cheers!

FWIW I found an actuator from a Landcruiser $20(Vacuum operated one) and incase anyone else has the same airconditioning idle problem like mine, I suggest you go to your local car air-con workshop- they have all various kinds of actuators!.... They controlled by an electric Vacuum solenoid which is tapped into the vac line on the back of the Alternator, and can be switched from the Compressor positive line...
