Would appreciate some input asap re clutch wear on a 94 bighorn swb which I have just checked over for a friend. Nice truck - 147ks - only obvious fault clutch engaging v close to floor - about 1 inch up. Doesn't creep and all gear changes smooth, but concerned about lack of travel. For many vehicles, clutch wear can show most when clutch starts engaging right at top of pedal travel, but with isuzu seems to be the reverse??
This is pretty common with 4jb1 bighorns - most of mates' ones take fairly close to floor and seem to last well. But this one esp low. I know you can adjust travel a small extent just behind pedal but that's temp measure.
One inch travel not enough. Clutch kit is about $500 I think plus labour. Question is whether its on way out shortly, or will last another 40-50k as the old bighorns can. Not a fault you'd want to buy, but could possibly persuade dealer to knock price from 8990 to nearer $8000 to deal with cost of problem. If necessary. Any experience with 3.1 clutches or comment welcome - Mike.

Sounds more like the hydrolics ie air in the system. Cylinders are cheap aprox 35 for slave and 65 for master at BNT Seals are available but is it worth the effort. Mine did this last year changed the slave because of some fluid evidence there nearly impossible to bleed but sucseeded Only lasted a month now impossible to bleed. Changed master cylinder which is easier with the bonnet off bled in only 10 pedal strokes perfect ever since. My moneys on a master cylinder prob

ok but do you have any slop in the pedal????and you would be suprised how much you can get on the pedal(master cylinder)adjustment,in may have been left loose or never been adjusted over time,or air,or worse the dealers or other has shimed the clutch fork pivot ball cause the clutch is worn right down some things to check huh
