Easy test for lsd is to lift both rear wheels with the car in neutral and turn one wheel by hand. if the other turns the same way its lsd . Only reason not to use lsd oil in a normal diff is its twice the price of normal diff oil

Thanks geeves - will try that test. I take it you can put lsd oil in either type of diff if you dont care about cost ?? Would you change diff oil at 40K on clock for vehicle thats 10yrs old - oil at present still nice and clean !! Only had vehicle for couple of months and just covering the basics for preventitive measures more than anything else.
As for those other option codes, are they trim colours and other interior stuff ??

not a bad idea in open diff pretty much essential in lsd. In lsd you do get contamination from the clutches and the additives do break down with time but in an open diff the only killers for the oil are heat and water. If its never been driven hard the oil will last forever but good practise still says change. The site I had with the codes has gone Ill try and see if I ever saved a copy

good spotting. I defiantly have a copy of this now. Would it be worth putting this as a PDF on the Manuals/Guides page? I think it would be handy
