Hi All,
I have a 95 swb bighorn which starts and runs well. after about 5 minutes driving the engine returns to idle and no has no throttle responce and the engine check light illuminates. it seems to be during decelleration/engine braking. the engine will still idle fine. the problem is solved by turning the engine off and back on again. but further down the road the same thing happens again... i am fairly confident mechanically but hate electronics. i 'suspect" the TPS could be at fault and is not supplying the ECU with a throttle signal. The engine has the EGR valves blocked off but it seems unlikely that this would be the problem. so.... should i A) get it diagnosed via the dealer. B) buy a replacement TPS and fit it. c) is there further fault finding i can carry out?
any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks Matt

Petrol or diesel?? What happens if you try to manualy operate the throttle at the engine end of things ie at diesel pump or throtle body? The check engine light is a worry. Someone else posted how to get the error code from the ecu and how to read it about 2 months ago. Could be worth a search

sorry, engine is diesel. the light goes away on the next engine start, oil pressure, volts, and water temp all read normal. have looked at the diesel pump end of things although there does not appear to be any sort of moveable linkage as the system is fly-by wire. will look into the error code post thanks for the quick reply geeves

problem fixed. it turnd out to be a lack of a speed signal to the ecu... odd but at least its going all good now...
