Hello all,
what is the estimated mileage (sorry, im in the us) or kilometers that i could expect to see out of 4jg2. Im thinking about putting one in a 89 trooper, and i just want to know how long i could expect it to run.

If you look after it service every 5000 ks should get 400 to 500 thousand ks I would think. Mine has done 220 th and still feels good.

mine is still going strong at 290,000km's, uses a little oil but no smoke whatsoever

Both the 4jb1t and the 4jg2t are good engines which will both do 400000+ as long as they are looked after from new. Second hand engines will always be a gamble on there history. only real ways round this is a fresh set of rings and bearings or buy a motor that already has 200000 on it
The 4jg2 has a slight tendency to overheat and crack heads so if you live somewhere hot it might not be the ideal choice.
The later 4jg2s had electronic control of the diesel pump which means a computer and more wiring
