Need to lift engine up to fit new engine mounts and a 50mm spacer cant find a area to wrap a strop around to lift without having to remove heaps of bits n pieces can the bottom of the engine below the front pulley area take the weight of the engine im thinking not Any help or ideas? thanks Mike just had another look and and if i removed the bolts on the transfer case mount and place another jack to support the weight at the flat part of the trans where it bolts to the engine would that be enough to take the weight as well as the one at the front?

When I did my engine mounts I put a strap round the manifold and nothing broke. But I did 1 at a time (2 years apart) and wasnt lifting the engine at the same time. One trick to save time Remove the bracket holding the mount from the engine and swap the mount onto this on the bench. Getting at the bolts holding the mount to this bracket in place is very hard. (I did the first one this way and spent 3 hours on these 2 bolts) second one done by this recommendation took under an hour. 50mm engine lift is going to put you very close to the fire wall

Remember that because the engine mounts are at 45 degrees to the motor if you put in 50 mm the bell housing will hit the fire wall and the motor wil bounce off the bonnet. My Bighorn has had a 50 mm body lift and I only needed 31 mm spacers on the mounts to get the rubber boot to reach the intercooler.I still had to lower the intercooler fan so it did'nt hit the scoop.I then spaced the gearbox mount up 38mm to correct the driveline. It must be fairly right because I've refitted the standard gear lever and it works ok.Hope this helps, Harry.
