G'day I took the engine out of my MU today ( i really dont reccomend it) and have decided i might as well replace the clutch while its out. I'm going to get a clutch kit for a jackeroo, im pretty sure it matches. Can any one verify that this matches the MU, or any other info regarding replacing the MU clutch? Cheers, Kes

Can't confirm regarding the clutch sizes etc, but do have a couple of helpfull tips. When you get your new clutch kit, ask and see if there is a 30% heavier duty version available. When I was sourcing Dad's clutch kit for his Irmsher through a parts dealer friend of mine, we found there was an off the shelf 30% unit available. Basically the pressure plate has a higher clamp pressure so its less likely to slip when you really put it under load. In Dad's case its towing the boat with 5 people and all the gear. I can't remember if the friction plate compound was different too. It cost marginally more but I pulled some strings and managed to get it all at 40% off. I'm not sure if the kit is still available and can't remember the brand, it was a wee while ago now. The other thing to look for is double pre-tention springs in the centre of the friction plate. They are basically a smaller spring captive inside the main spring. The advantage behind this is that the "clatter" when sitting in neutral is reduced. Anything to make the old diesel quiter yeah?! Anyway, thats my 2c Stu
