Has anyone had trouble starting the engine with an auto some times in the Wizard it wont start (nothing when you turn the key) jiggle the gear shift and it will start. I though I read a thread on this some time ago. Any help much appreciated. Cheers Bruce

Only time I've had something similar was because I had the gear lever in drive ! There's some type of sensor that makes sure it's either in park or neutral before you can start it - sounds like this is a bit loose in yours. I need to pull mine apart and find the reverse signal as it's dodgy on mine and the reverse lights don't always come on. Strangely it's most common when the engine is cold. ciao! Graham.

Thanks Graham, and yes it only happens when cold, it will start up first thing in the morning, move the car and turn it off and when I go to start it again nothing, play around with the shift and it will start not straight away though. Cheers Bruce.

I had this in anouther brand of car There is a micro switch in the shifter box that drives a relay which drives the starter solinoid. The micro switch will be loose or faulty. Quite easy to work on. Only catch is there is a second microswitch for the reversing lights

If it won't start in park then try neutral, may work. Also mine seems to be doing the same as Graham, reverse lights take a while to kick in when cold, when warm no worries. 3.1 auto
