hi,
i have a 94 mu with a 4jg2 engine, and on start one cylinder is not combusting result is alot of greyish smoke coming out of the exhaust, this cleares and engine smooths out soon as there is a bit of heat in the motor. any clues on what it may be

Do a compresion test as low compresion can cause this. Otherwise and hopfully more likly would be a dodgy injector

thats a good direction in which to lean, alot cheaper too. a dodgy injector would give a rougher idle than low compression in a single pot at startup with minimal temp.

Possibly a glow plug? Does the glowplug light give any fault indication on one faulty glowplug? But this would only matter in cold weather.

My Bighorn did the same, maybe try glowing it 2-3 times to see if that helps? Might narrow the problem down a little.
