FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM - GMH- AND CAN BUY A NEW T.P.S SWITCH ONLY FOR $98 .

TPS is a Throttle Position Switch, mostly associated with throttle body fuel injected vehicles (petrol). But I am assuming the newish 4JX1 has a TPS due to the computer controlled Fuel injection system it employs. These vehicles are fly-by-wire (no accelerator cable) so they might now refer to a switch actually on the accelerator pedal.
Basically they are variable resister sender that informs the computer of your throttle position for fueling ratio information, be it for the throttle body or the throttle pedal!! And being an electronic throttle, they tend to be jerky!!
Hope that helps, just glad I have a 4JG2, ahh simplicity!!!
