My '96 3.1 turbo diesel has so far been very economical. This is my fourth Isuzu diesel 4x4. Now fuel economy has dropped off big time like about 25%, and engine surges badly at idle, hot or cold. Does anyone out there have the technical answer to this or where I should start looking please? ;D

Change fuel filter and check air filter, I have found that if my fuel economy is down and I replace the air filter it seem to get back to normal.

filters first then a check of injectors and pump. Then compression test. Is it smoking at all?
