It must be turbo season. My road truck developed a whistle today [starts from low pitch and increases with revs past where my old ears can hear it], blows blue smoke under acceleration and has lost a lot of power.I guess the turbo has gone pop.Have to dig out a spare and loosen my double jointed fingers [not] to get at the inaccessable bolts.Bugger. Harry.

Before you do take the turbo intake off and check if the impeller is free turning. If it is your problem might be elsewhere. A leaking inlet manifold can sound like this although the blue smoke is an ominous sign. When my intake was leaking it was impossible to get it to make the noise by free reving the engine but with a load it was terrible.

Thanks, Allan. See post in mods. The impellors have heaps of side play and the inlet impellor has been rubbing on the housing. It's stuffed. Regards,Harry.
