i have finished installing the boost gauge and i took it for a drive got it up to about 3000rpm and was running 10psi went a bit higher in the rev range up to 3250 and it still ran 10psi....just wondering i have a pod filter that i will be putting on as well today would there be any improvement to the amount of boost just by adding the pod filter its a custom pod that i made up in my spare time
thanks in advance

At 10 pound the boost is being controlled by the wastegate If fitting a pod allows more air then the wastegate just opens furthur to compensate. The extra airflow still helps power and ecconomy slightly but wont show on the guage. Be carefull with pods esspecialy if you go off road. Some of the cheaper pods have been known to destroy themselves at the most inopportune moments. Ive heard of a Safari where the end cap came off half way up a big hill stopping the engine with a bang that could be heard a very long way away. No damage to the engine but it didnt sound that way. Also A lot of pod installations result in a air intake not very high with a risk of water getting in

i dont go off road at all...and yes i know that cheaper pods are crap so i got myself a K&N pod as that i previously had a K&N pod on my VL Turbo b4 i got rid of it.... i put the pod on about 40 mins ago took it for a drive and what can i say feels like it have so much more go and even though you said it shouldnt gain anymore boost it did...it pulls 12psi easy but if i push it out to 3500-3750rpm i can get 14psi which when it hits that boy does it wanna go then

I would say the old filter must of been pretty tired to get that much difference. Only bad thing about the KN is the price. Enjoy the new found power but remember that if you treat it like a sports car one day its going to bite. Its a 2100kg 4x4 with a high roof and 230mm under the lowest point. They do fall over.

yeah i know its not a sports car...and as for the pod you want a good one you gotta pay for it....im getting a new car soon that i can race around in and just use the 4x4 for towing and travelling im gonna get a Subaru GT forester as its a wagon as i need the room for my trade and like the wagon and its in close with the wrx so its not to hard to mod

The replacement IHI turbo (same as the NZ guy is selling) that i got the wastegate is set to 17psi and was said to hold around the 16psi mark.

thats not the stock setting but shouldnt cause any problems. You might need to blank off the overboost valve in the inlet manifold to run that much boost though
