my Mu needs a new front engine seal, i bought one to fit the 3.1TD jackaroo but it doesnt fit. but also i dont really know what size my engine is....on the rego papers it says 2.8 but on the top of the motor it says 3100 turbo, whick one should i believe? also would the timing belt be the same as the 3.1 jackaroo?
the mechanic said he cant find anywhere that the seal comes up on the computers.....what should i do, is he looking for the right thing?

When I had to change my timing belt I asked for one for A Jackaroo 3.1 and no worries, so I would have though the seals would be the same. Did have a seal around some where, but in our moving it could be anywhere I'll go have a look and if I find it I'll post a ser no here.
Cheers Bruce.

There must be a number to identify the engine on the block somewhere. Ill have a look in my books when I get home to find out where. The 3.1 tappet cover will fit the 2.8 so the only way to tell would be the engine no. What number is on the seal. With the exception of a few odball seals most seal shops should be able to match this
